Maxx Explosion are the trio from House of Lords: drummer BJ Zampa, guitarist Jimi Bell, and singing bassman Chris McCarvill.
Maxx Explosion was inevitable. Connecticut simply wasn't big enough to keep three of the hard rock world’s most formidable forces apart. The cosmic collision happened in 2001 while recording with metal icon Mike Vescera, eventually leading all three into melodic rock band House of Lords. A soundcheck in Budapest, Hungary—where bassist Chris McCarvill stepped up to the mic—sparked the realization that together, as a trio, they had a chemistry that couldn't be contained.
Formed in 2012 as a New England cover band, Maxx Explosion quickly became a creative outlet for original music. They released two critically acclaimed, now-rare studio albums: Forever (2013) and Dirty Angels (2015), blending '80s and '90s glam-infused hard rock with a modern punch.
After a hiatus while the members played on global stages—Chris and BJ with Dokken, and Jimi with Autograph—the band decided to reignite the engine in early 2026. Maxx Explosion is back, backed by their technical skill, rock pedigree, and reputation for fun-loving social media antics.
