About

The trombone. The grooves. The gospel. The funk. The blues. The second-line spirit. And that unmistakable New Orleans ability to turn a room full of people into a party. Glen David Andrews brings all that and more!

Born and raised in the historic Tremé neighborhood, Glen grew up with this music all around him. He learned from legendary New Orleans musicians including Tuba Fats, came up alongside his brother Derrick Tabb of Rebirth Brass Band and cousin Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, and was touring professionally by the age of 14.

So when Glen takes the stage, New Orleans isn't something he's recreating. It's home.

And what a sound he brings with him. Glen's powerhouse voice and fiery trombone lead a band that can move from jazz and blues to gospel, funk and rock, all propelled by the infectious rhythms of New Orleans brass-band and second-line traditions.

This is music that wants you to move.

A Glen David Andrews show can turn on a dime—from a soulful ballad to a deep funk groove to a full-blown brass-fueled celebration that has people out of their seats. He’s funny, spontaneous, passionate and completely connected to his audience. You don't simply sit back and observe a Glen David Andrews show. Before long, you’re part of it.

And underneath all that joy is the real thing. Glen is a cultural torchbearer for the musical traditions of Tremé, carrying forward music born from community, resilience, faith and celebration. Those traditions aren't museum pieces in his hands. They're alive, they're evolving, and they're an absolute blast.

A headliner at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Glen has brought that energy to Lincoln Center, Tipitina’s, House of Blues New Orleans, Joe’s Pub and stages around the world. His acclaimed recordings include Redemption and Portrait of the Treme Prince, and he is featured on Galactic's beloved track “You Don't Know” from Ya-Ka-May.
