About
Celebrate the first day of summer with live music around every corner during Make Music Day: Storefront Serenades in Downtown Troy. Enjoy free performances from local musicians at participating businesses throughout the district, featuring a variety of musical acts including acoustic sets, jazz ensembles, singer-songwriters, and instrumental groups. It's a community-wide event designed for all ages, encouraging attendees to stroll through downtown, discover new artists, support local businesses, and experience Troy's vibrant arts and culture scene.
Special programming takes place at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, including:
- Live DJ Set featuring JB aka. Dirty Moses (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, with an interactive DJ Workshop at 1:00 PM for students ages 10–15)
- Instrument Petting Zoo sponsored by John Keal Music (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, for all ages and families; try a variety of instruments with teaching artists)
- Community Drum Circle with Jordan Taylor Hill (12:00 PM; open to all ages and experience levels)
- Suzuki Community Strings Workshop (1:00 PM; open group jam for all string players)
- Sing, Dance, & Play Along with Ms. Deb (2:00 PM; American folk music experience for families)
- Troy Samba outdoor performance and community jam (4:15 PM – 5:15 PM; rhythm instruments provided, all are welcome)
At 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM outside the Music Hall, join Sousapalooza: A Community Reading of the Music of John Philip Sousa, an open-air participatory concert for brass, woodwind, and percussion players of all ages. Guest conductor: John Fatuzzo. No rehearsal required—just show up ready to play.
Make Music Day takes place on Sunday, June 21. All ages are welcome. Performance locations and full schedules will be available closer to the event date. No tickets or registration required except for select ensemble participation.
