About
Are you interested in embroidery and textile art? Learn about the Embroiderers’ Guild of America through the local NY Capital District Chapter. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced stitcher, you can learn more about the needle arts and enjoy the friendship of others who share your interest.
At this drop-in event, see what needle arts resources the Folklife Center has and chat and stitch with local chapter members.
We define needle arts as any technique that uses a needle and thread. Our interests and skills range from traditional techniques like crewel, cross-stitch, and needlepoint to less common ones like beading, temari, and stumpwork.
The chapter offers meetings and workshops, show-and-share stitch-ins, study groups, stitching retreats, community service projects, and biennial exhibits. Education is our emphasis. No skill level is required, and members are ready to share their knowledge.
The Embroiderers’ Guild of America’s mission is to inspire passion for the needle arts through education and the celebration of its heritage. EGA is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for stitchers of any experience level, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or other background to develop their skills and express their creativity. EGA affirms its commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA).
