October Watercolor with Kristi
Beginner Watercolor: Meet Jack-O-Lantern
Watercolor can look effortless when you watch someone else do it. Then you try it yourself and suddenly there is water everywhere, the color is running in a direction you did not authorize, and the paper has developed opinions. That is exactly why this class is designed to actually teach you watercolor.
Kristi is an experienced professional instructor who helps students understand how water and pigment work together, how to build color, create texture and depth, and make choices they can use again in future paintings. This is more than a follow-along project: you will create a finished piece and learn techniques you can continue practicing on your own.
Each class in the watercolor series helps you build your own watercolor kit. Participants receive a quality watercolor tool or supply to take home. Returning students may be asked to bring supplies from earlier classes so they can continue using and building their collection. Consistent students have 9 tools so far. Want to catch up? Some supplies are available to purchase at the Jam.
You do not need to purchase a complete watercolor setup before attending. A 50-color paint kit with brushes in a portable case is recommended and costs $20. You can take it home and practice what you learned immediately.
Your $65 registration includes:
- Professional instruction with Kristi
- Your watercolor project
- Shared supplies needed for class, if you don't have your own
- A quality watercolor tool or supply to take home (this month: 3 Micron pens)
- Guidance you can continue using outside of class
Our goal is not simply for you to leave with one finished painting. We want you to leave understanding watercolor a little better, feeling more confident using it, and having another tool in your kit so you can keep creating at home.
