Grab lunch in the cafe at 12. Discussion begins at 12:15.

June is Black Music month! Each week we look at the historical background and cultural impact of significant musical genres:
- Blues
- Jazz
- Soul
- Funk
- Hip-hop

Together we'll discuss how the music was both influenced by events of the time, and influential in shaping the future — all while enjoying a meal graciously provided by the People's Place Cafe.

Pick up a packet of readings ahead of time at either location.

Stop at the Café first (777 Broadway) to pick up your meal, and then head to the Wellness & Empowerment Center next door (775 Broadway) for community and conversation.
