About
For decades, Syracuse Cultural Workers has published an annual Peace Calendar to engage people in the vital work of creating a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world. This exhibit features 13 panels displaying artwork and the cover from the 2027 Peace Calendar, its 56th edition.
The calendar includes work by artists from across the country, including muralists, painters, collage artists, digital creators, and photographers. It speaks to a wide range of interconnected social and political issues and is displayed each year in thousands of homes, businesses, and public places in communities large and small.
Started in 1982, Syracuse Cultural Workers strives to nourish communities that honor diversity and creative expression, and inspire movements for justice, equity, and liberation while respecting our Earth and all its beings. The organization creates and publishes calendars, posters, T-shirts, cards, buttons, stickers, and other merchandise to support those movements and the people who build them. The first 11 Peace Calendars were published by the Syracuse Peace Council, the oldest local, independent peace and social justice organization in the US.
The exhibit will be on display on the main floor of Soule Branch Library from September 8 through October 29, 2026. A reception will be held at the library on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
