When Bern Hendricks, a music professor and one of the world's preeminent experts on famed twentieth-century composer Frederick Delaney, is asked by one of Delaney's descendants to help authenticate a newly discovered piece, he thinks he's just received the call of a lifetime. With the help of his tech-savvy friend Eboni, he gets to work immediately, but it soon becomes clear that Delaney's true history is far more complicated than it seems. Digging deeper, Bern and Eboni find clues indicating that Delaney may have had help from an uncredited and unknown source: a young Black composer named Josephine Reed. But who was the real genius behind Delaney's world-famous complete works?
This program is offered in person and virtually via Zoom. To attend virtually, include a valid email address when registering; a Zoom link will be sent the day of the event.
