About

The library is offering a three-part series of 50 year old movies to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Film expert and Menands Public Library Director Lenny Zapala presents the second installment in the series: the movie Rocky.

The film is a drama about an overlooked, small-time Philadelphia boxer named Rocky Balboa who gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. It is a story of heart, underdog determination, and self-respect, focusing on Rocky's journey to "go the distance" rather than just winning.

The movie is directed by John Avildsen. Don’t forget Lenny’s introduction and comments after the film!

For adults. Registration is required. Registration will open on June 11, 2026 @ 5:00pm.
