Painting with Gouache with Teresa Ricci

Discover the versatility of gouache in this hands-on workshop with Teresa Ricci. Gouache is a uniquely flexible medium—able to behave like transparent watercolor when thinned with water or build up like acrylic when applied more opaquely. In this session you’ll explore both approaches and learn how to find the consistency and handling that feels most natural to you.

The workshop begins with guided experimentation as you get comfortable working in either acrylic gouache or traditional water‑based gouache. Teresa will demonstrate how to control opacity, layer color, and create form through confident brushwork.

Once you’ve explored the medium, you’ll move into a full still-life painting, working either from a small object set up in the studio or from a photo reference. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a completed gouache piece and a deeper understanding of how this adaptable medium can expand your painting practice.
