Sirsy – 8/22

We’re thrilled to welcome one of our favorite duos back to the 443 on August 22… SIRSY!

SIRSY is fronted by powerhouse vocalist Melanie (Mel) Krahmer, who is described as “one of the most powerful & flexible voices you’ll ever hear.” (Times Union). Aftertaste Magazine said, “Bursting and belting out emotion and substance, she can be the queen of ‘in the groove’ rocking or be simple and delicate.” Mel also plays a full drum kit while standing up (she’s been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine and is endorsed by Paiste Cymbals and Vater Percussion). At live shows Mel plays bass parts with a drum stick on a keyboard mounted on her drums, and she sometimes adds a flute solo.

Guitarist Rich Libutti plays a well-loved, road-worn Rickenbacker through a pedalboard of vintage effects. “The guitar player is flawless and raw. Clean enough to be enjoyed, and just edgy enough to make you grin.” (SXSW Music Blog, Austin TX). Live, Rich also plays bass on a keyboard with his feet.

Sirsy has played over 250 shows a year nationally for the last 10 years and averages about 60,000 miles per year in their van, “Miles.” They’ve opened for Maroon 5, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Train, RaRaRiot, Third Eye Blind, Collective Soul, Lifehouse, Blues Traveler, Cheap Trick, and many more. SIRSY has played official showcases at CMJ and SXSW and venues like The Viper Room and Gramercy Theater. Both Mel and Rich have theatre backgrounds, and their energetic live show often includes stories and laughter from the stage. Although the lyrics can be introspective and the power of Sirsy can get intense, “there is no sadness there,” Mel says. On stage they radiate joy: “It’s just us being free and playing music.”

- The 443 is an intimate listening room with table service and seats 75 people.
- Floor plan: green squares/circles are bar-height tables; orange squares are regular-height tables.
- Most seats are sold as “Tables for Two” (ticket admits TWO people).
- A limited number of single seats are available; single attendees may share a table with other singles.
- Multiple tickets purchased under the same name will automatically be seated together (up to 6 people).
- Requesting a specific table is a perk reserved for VIP Patron members.
- If anyone in your party needs special seating arrangements (walker, cane, service animal, wheelchair, low table requirement, or you want to be seated with another party), please email the venue after you place your order so they can assist.
- All tickets are WILL CALL — no need to print anything; give your name at the door.
