Karyn Kuhl first received national acclaim for her early bands Gut Bank and Sexpod, growing out of the Hoboken music scene and the legendary club Maxwell's. (“Gut Bank’s The Dark Ages is one exceptional debut album.” — Robert Palmer, New York Times). Over the past 20 years she has released 10 LP’s, EP’s and singles and performs both as a solo act and leading the Karyn Kuhl Band. Currently at work on a new album, Kuhl released two songs on Dromedary Records No Traces/The Tower in April 2024 (“Here we find her delivering a strong pair of songs that make one hopeful for an LP. The a-side is a solid confessional rocker while the flip is a darker cinematic trip. Grab this!” — The Big Takeover). Tracy City is a gang of salty broads revving the engines of garage rock by way of New York City no-wave queercore. Formed by underground film director Katrina del Mar (vocals), with Monica Falcone on guitar, Genny Slag on drums and Betsy Todd on bass, Tracy City is perhaps the only all lesbian band in the world, formed entirely of perimenopausal Riot Grrrls. Think Bush Tetras meet the Pandoras by way of Gary Numan. Power retro-pop. Orangutwins: Carolyn Marosy (vocals/guitar/bass) and Andrea “Big Mama Freak” Kusten found each other in Woodstock NY after many years playing in the same NYC circles. They both played CBGB, Continental, and other clubs. Their love for “wall of sound” music with catchy hooks and tribal beats made writing songs together fun and exciting. Their first EP, produced by Ricky Byrd and Bob Stander, is called "We Are A Genius." The band name is a tip of the hat to their love of Planet of the Apes. GSX was founded by performer-songwriter Sarah Greenwood (guitar & vocals), a Brit/Swiss transplant who formed her first band and wrote her first songs at age thirteen. She studied at Berklee College of Music, where she received multiple songwriting awards. The Boston Phoenix wrote: “Greenwood has a knack for transforming pain and anger into edgy songs which alternately smolder and blaze with the eloquently pissed off attitude of Chrissie Hynde. Her lyrics are reminiscent of Lou Reed and Patti Smith.” The Boston Herald wrote the band “sounds like PJ Harvey without the overblown angst.” After graduating, Sarah moved to New York City and GSX worked up to headliner billing, including at CBGB’s. CMJ wrote: “Angst rocker may be classically trained, but the ballsy head-banging spirit of Joan Jett rattles in her bones.” The GSX videos “Bringin’ Me Down” and “I Got What I Came For,” both directed by Katrina del Mar, were in rotation for four weeks on LOGO's Click List. The band has performed nationally (including opening for Joan Jett at CBGB’s) and internationally, notably to a crowd of 50,000 in Reykjavik, Iceland. During 2023-24, four GSX songs from Manifest were in rotation on SiriusXM Little Steven’s Underground Garage on both Genya Ravan and Palmyra Delran’s shows.
