RUCKUS: THE EDINBURGH ROLLICK
featuring Keir GoGwilt & Fiona Gillespie
Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 6pm
As part of Waterfront Wednesdays at Henry Hudson Riverfront Park
Acclaimed early music band Ruckus and violin virtuoso Keir GoGwilt celebrate the legacy of Niel Gow (b. Perthshire, 1727-1807), one of Scotland’s most important musicians, in this dynamic folk-Baroque feast of Scottish dance music. Weaving together these jubilant, hard-driving and nostalgic tunes into large-scale dramatic forms, Ruckus and GoGwilt bring the 18th-century tradition of blending folk and art music to the present day.
Enjoy this free evening of music by the waterfront ahead of Ruckus' return for the third installment of the Handel on the Hudson series directed by R. B. Schlather, Deidamia, in Spring 2027.
Ruckus:
- Doug Balliett, viola da gamba and bass
- Elliot Figg, harpsichord and keyboard
- Fiona Gillespie, voice, pennywhistle and bodhran
- Keir GoGwilt, violin and hardanger d'amore
- Paul Holmes Morton, guitar and theorbo
- Rami El-Aasser, percussion
- Clay Zeller-Townson, baroque bassoon
