Roomful of Blues, the world-renowned, horn-powered, house-rocking blues band, has been delighting audiences for over 55 years. On record and on stage—led by guitarist Chris Vachon for the past 25 years—they deliver a mix of original songs and covers ranging from jump, swing and proto rock ‘n’ roll to contemporary blues. Their musicianship and larger-than-life vocals have earned five GRAMMY Award nominations, seven Blues Music Awards, and recognition in the DownBeat International Critics’ Poll.
Chris Vachon first joined in 1990 and has led the band since 1998. The current lineup includes lead vocalist D. D. Bastos, keyboardist Jeff Ceasrine, saxophonists Rich Lataille and Craig Thomas, trumpeter Christopher Pratt, bassist Lou Bocciarelli, and drummer Mike Coffey. Bastos brings sweet, soulful vocals that add a bright dimension to the band’s jazzy, jump-blues roots; their combination of jump, swing, blues, R&B and soul continues to fill dance floors.
Formed in 1967, the group added a horn section (including Rich Lataille) in 1970 and released a self-titled debut album in 1977. They recorded for Rounder Records’ Bullseye Blues and Varrick labels between 1980 and 2001, earning international attention and major rock radio airplay. Since joining Alligator Records in 2003, notable releases include the Grammy-nominated That’s Right! (2003), Standing Room Only (2005), Raisin’ A Ruckus (2008), Hook, Line & Sinker (2010), 45 Live (2013) and In A Roomful Of Blues (2020).
