To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee (published 1960), is a classic American novel. It tells a story of racism and injustice in the American Southern states in the 1950s, through the eyes of a young girl who watches her lawyer father fight for justice.

It also speaks to the power of courage and kindness, and rekindles for the reader the magic of childhood.
