Gallery Talk: Recent Dinosaur Extinctions and Near-Extinctions

Birds are the living descendants of the one lineage of dinosaurs that didn’t go extinct 66 million years ago. Meet NYSM Ornithologist and Curator Dr. Jeremy Kirchman in the Gone Forever section of our Birds of New York exhibition to learn about bird species lost to extinction in the 19th and 20th centuries. Then discover the species brought back from the brink of extinction in the 1970s and 1980s through the efforts of New York conservation biologists!
