About

Join us in welcoming Willie Nile to Lark Hall on Thursday, November 19. Doors open at 7 PM; the show starts at 8 PM.

Buffalo-born, New York City-based singer-songwriter Willie Nile has been praised by The New York Times as “one of the most gifted singer-songwriters to emerge from the New York scene in years.” Uncut Magazine called him “A one-man Clash” and “the unofficial poet laureate of New York City.” Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townshend, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams, Jim Jarmusch, and Little Steven are among those who have sung his praises.

Nile’s albums have received wide critical recognition. American Ride won Best Rock Album of the Year at the Independent Music Awards. World War Willie won Twangville Magazine’s Album of the Year Reader’s Poll, and Children of Paradise also won that poll. The Associated Press called Children of Paradise “Might be the best album of his career!” His 2020 album, New York at Night, was described by the Associated Press as “As sharp and guitar-driven as ever,” and by DownBeat Magazine as a “sonic love letter to Gotham.”

His studio album The Day the Earth Stood Still features a duet with Steve Earle on “Blood on Your Hands.” In 2022, Nile released “Wake Up America,” a duet with Earle. In 2024, he released the live album Willie Nile – Live at Daryl’s House Club. His latest album, The Great Yellow Light, received four stars from MOJO, which called it “a batch of classic rock ’n’ roll.” Nile will tour Europe and North America this year in support of the album.
